In order to ensure the success of the forthcoming United Nations Day of Vesak, which is to run from 7-10 May, the Rector of Mahachula University, Prof. Dr. Dhammakosacara, has announced that the University has appointed a committee to perform a chanting of blessing for His Majesty King Bhumipol Adulyadej on the Sixtieth Anniversary of His Majesty?s Accession to the Throne.
In this regard, Ven. Prof. Dr. Dhammakosacara told the Kum-chad-luek newspaper that Mahachula University had reported to the Government the budgetary requirements for the celebration of the Day of Vesak, and that the Cabinet has agreed to grant the budget.
The Rector also announced the University?s appointment of committees to take responsibility for preparing the events and ensuring that the celebrations for the United Nations Day of Vesak are organised to the Government?s satisfaction.
At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the celebration of United Nations Day of Vesak would this year focus on the unity of different organisations in order to promote harmony within Thailand after a long political crisis. He has requested all temples in the land to chant blessings.
The events will be broadcast on Thai television and radio.
