The Vietnamese Nobel Peace Prize Nominee, Thich Nhat Hanh, to join World Vesak Day in Thailand

Thich Nhat Hanh, the Zen Mahathera, world-renowned and highly acclaimed by “Time” is coming to participate in the World Vesak Day and the holy chanting to bless the King on his 80th Birthday anniversary.

On the occasion of World Vesak Day hosted by Thailand between 26-31 May, the world’s renowned Zen Buddhist and his groups are scheduled to participate.

Phra Dharmakosajarn, Rector of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University as Chairman of the Organizing Committee responsible for the 4th Conference of International meeting hosted by the Thai Government discloses that the University has invited Thich Naht Han, the Vietnamese Zen leading Buddhist of Plum Village, France and 64 monks to participate in the activities to be organized at Buddhamonthon and the UNCC.

On Monday 28th May at 08:00 the monks and nuns from the Plum Village will pray for world peace at UNCC. At 10:00, Thich Nhat Hanh will give a keynote speech on Buddhism and Governance and Development. At 16:30 he and other Buddhist leaders will go to the Temple of The Emeral Buddha to join in the chanting blessing the King on the occasion of his 80th birthday anniversary.

On May 30 at 10:00 Thich Nhat Hanh, along with other 150 religious leaders from various countries, will attend a reception hosted by the Prime Minister and the Cabinet.

The Organizing Committee has selected the topics of Buddhism and Governance and Development because the world has recognized the King’s great leadership. He has ruled in accordance with the Rajadhamma and succeeded in developing the country to the recognition of the UN and various countries, setting a model of sustainable development.
