Vietnam to host fifth international Buddhist conference

The annual fifth international Buddhist conference is expected to be held in 2008 in Vietnam.

On behalf of the government, Vietnam Ambassador to Thailand Nguyen Duy Hung read a message from Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung during the fourth international Buddhist conference which is being held in Bangkok, Thailand.

In his message, the Vietnamese prime minister stressed that the Government of Vietnam welcomes and is willing to host the 2008 United Nations Buddha’s birthday festival, which would show the nation’s support towards the UN decision, for peace, democracy and social progress and development.

The Vietnamese delegation attending the fourth international Buddhist conference includes 40 Buddhists.

The conference has welcomed 61 Buddhist follower delegations from 61 countries all over the world.
